Kinesiology for Children & Teens
My vision & intention working with children, teens and their parents.........
At Kathleen Kinesiology, my clinic space, is a place for parents and their children or teen, to come to and feel safe, to bare themselves, as they are, to be listened
to with no judgement.
It's a space for them to truly feel seen & heard, to be nurtured and to allow the process of healing & growth to take place both emotionally & physically.

the child and teenager
Children and teenagers can sometimes find it hard to express the way that they are feeling. They have these big emotions building up inside of them, not knowing how to release them or express them. Their behaviour can be seen as hard to handle, aggressive, spirited child, over-active child and more. The child or teen all develop emotionally at different stages of their life and understanding how this happens and when it happens and how to work with all these different age groups, is what I find truly rewarding. Seeing the child or teens face change, the connection of why and how they have been feeling a certain way, or why they have all this anger or sadness within themselves, in a session is such a joy to see. To see them make a connection of how & why they have been feeling a certain way and how they can shift this feeling with support of a Kinesiology session and tools used in their session and that they can take home to do, it creates a feeling of empowerment within themselves. It builds resilient, confident, courageous children and teenagers.
I have undertaken a Kinesiology course " Kinesiology for Kids" specifically designed to work with children and teens and I am so grateful that I did. Children and teens, their brains and nervous system function differently than adults. So that is why working with them in a Kinesiology session with me will be different, tailored for their individual self. I also work with the parent/care giver as well, alongside with the child/teen. It's very much a holistic approach to the child or teen at Kathleen Kinesiology.
I feel very grateful to be able to work with children and teenagers. There is something very special about them.
I wish that I would've had the knowledge & tools, that I have & know now, when my children were little and in their teen years. It would have been such a blessing, to have that extra tools of support through some challenging teenage years.
But as my children say ( they are both in their early 20's), "these children & teens are so fortunate to have parents investing in them and that they are working with you Mum. They will have such amazing life tools to use and will be able to face the world and be emotionally resilient and strong human beings, moving forward with anything that life throws at them". my kids Thomas & Chloe x

Each Kinesiology session is different and unique when working with children and teens. In the initial appointment there will be a lot of discussion with the parent and child or teen, to see what is going on in the child/teens life and also within the family unit and also the history of the child/teens health and wellbeing. .
Initially it is about you the parent, your child or teen feeling safe and secure within my clinic space, knowing that you and the child/teen feel heard.
If the child is under 6yrs of age, I will surrogate for the child or use the parent as the surrogate to muscle test on for the session. In the initial session there is a lot of conversation, as I hold a space to listen and also to educate the "why's and how's" of their own physical and emotional body and how the physical body speaks to us through signs and symptoms. As I am also a Nurse, I have that extra knowledge and understanding of how the body works and can answer any questions that you may have.
In the child/teens Kinesiology session, I will start their session off, by using acupressure points to support their nervous system. The reason for this is to rebalance the nervous system from the sympathetic nervous system being in a a state of "fight 'n' flight" to bringing it back to the parasympathetic nervous system of "calm and digest". The main points that I use are located on their feet, ankles, back of base of head, forehead and whatever my test up for them. The parent may also need support of these points as well and I chat with the parent, child/teen what these all mean and how each point can support the health and wellness of the physical and emotional body. There may be other tools used, such as Sound therapy. It is a great tool for both children and teens to support their emotional and physical wellbeing, as sound shifts and moves through the body, resetting & clearing their energy quickly, as the body is made up of 74% water. I love using affirmations with children and teens, incorporating a visualisation technique, which they can do at home, to support themselves. Sometimes I will also allow a small amount of time at the end of the child/teen session, for the parent/care giver to have a "mini" Kinesiology balance. I believe that this is important, depending what is going on with the child/teen or within the family unit, as the physical & emotional energy of the parent/caregiver, is just as important as the child/teen.
